Ingredients:
1.3 lbs chicken cut in small pieces
1 large onion cut in cubes
2 bell peppers cut in cubes
1 tbsp chopped ginger
1 tbsp chopped garlic
4 green chili
1/2 tbsp garam masala
Oil for frying
Sauce
2 tbsp red chili sauce (I used Ching's brand)
2 tbsp green chili sauce(I used Ching's brand)
2 tbsp ketchup
1 tbsp sugar
1 tsp vinegar
1/3 cup soy sauce
Marinade
1 egg
1 tsp crushed black pepper
3 tbsp cornflour
4 tbsp all purpose flour
1 tsp ginger garlic paste
Pinch of salt
2 tbsp water
Directions:
Take chicken in a bowl and add in egg, black pepper, cornflour, all purpose flour, ginger garlic paste, pinch of salt and 2 tbsp water. Mix it well to coat each chicken piece. Then keep it aside for 15 mins.
For sauce in a bowl combine red chili sauce, green chili sauce, ketchup, sugar, vinegar and soy sauce. Mix it all together and keep it aside.
Take a pan and heat oil to fry the chicken pieces. When oil gets heated add chicken pieces few at a time. Do not crowd the pan as it well lower the oil temperature. Add chicken in batches to get best crispy result. After all the chicken pieces are fried keep it aside and proceed to next step.
Take the same pan and remove access oil. Make sure to cook on high flame or medium high. Then add in chopped ginger garlic and green chilies to the oil. Let it cook for 2-3 mins and then add in the onions. Cook till onions slightly change color and starts to sweat. At this point add in the bell peppers (if you add bell pepper with onions it will get soggy). Saute it for 5-7 mins and then add in the sauce. Let the sauce cook for 2-3 mins and then add in the fried chicken pieces. Mix well and coat all chicken pieces. Then add in 1/2 tbsp garam masala and give it a toss. In about 3-5 mins your Chili Chicken is ready.
Tips: Do not add salt. First add the sauce and let the chicken saute in it and then taste test for salt.
If you want semi gravy when you add sauce add in 1/2 cup warm water
