Ingredients:
For marinade
1 lb fish fillet cut in pieces (you don't have to use fillet)
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tbsp kashmiri chili powder
Salt to taste
Gravy
Oil
1 tbsp cumin seed
2 bay leaf
6 green chilies
10-12 garlic cloves
1 tsp ginger garlic paste
1 chopped tomato
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp kashmiri chili powder
1 cup warm water
Chopped cilantro for garnish
Directions:
In a bowl add fish fillet, turmeric powder, chili powder and salt. Mix it all together and marinate for 10 mins. Heat oil in a pan and fry the fish pieces. Once the fish is fried take it out and add 2 tbsp oil in the same pan. Then add in 1 tbsp cumin seed, bay leaf, green chilies and garlic cloves. Saute it all together and then add in ginger garlic paste. Cook it till the raw smell is gone and ginger garlic changes color. Now add in chopped tomato and saute it for few mins. Then add in turmeric and chili powder. Mix it well and then add 1 cup warm water. Cover it and bring it to a boil for 5 mins. Then open and add in the fish and boil it for 3-5 mins. Then garnish it with chopped cilantro and serve.
Tip: add few tbsp oil when you add fish to gravy. This will help cook the masala properly.
