Beef Biryani

 



Ingredients:

1 lb beef cubes
1 tbsp plain yogurt
1 tsp chili powder 
1 tsp coriander powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp fennel seed
1 tsp cumin seed
2 bay leaf
1/2 inch cinnamon stick
4 green cardamom
5 cloves
5 green chilies
1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
2 onions sliced
1/2 cup coriander leaves chopped
1/2 cup mint leaves
2 tomatoes chopped
1/2 cup plain yogurt
1 cup oil
Salt to taste

Rice prep:
2 cup basmati rice
1 lemon
3 cardamom
3 cloves
3 green chili
Bay leaf
Salt

Directions:

Marinate meat with yogurt, ginger garlic paste,  chili powder,  coriander powder,  turmeric powder,  garam masala. Marinate and keep aside for at least 1 hour. 

Heat oil in a pan and add cinnamon stick, cardamom, cloves, bay leaf, cumin seed, and fennel seed. cook it for a minute and then add in sliced onions and green chilies. cook until onions are slightly brown. Then add in the marinated beef and chopped tomatoes. Let it all cook for 15 mins. Add water if needed. After 15 mins add in mint, cilantro, and 1/2 cup plain yogurt. cook it all until the beef is cooked and tender. 

Cooking Rice:

Bring 4 cups of water to boil and add 1 lemon juice, cardamom, cloves, green chilies, bay leaf, and salt. Once the water boils add in the rice and cook till 90 % done. Then strain the rice and keep it aside.

Layering:

Heat the oven to 350 F 

Now take a tray and layer rice and then beef. Add fried onions, cilantro, mint and green chilies as desired between each layer. Cover the tray with foil paper and bake for 30 mins
